Creating a Spooky Home Inspired by Disney’s Haunted Mansion

A Spooky Soiree of new and old

Halloween is my favorite time of year. There’s nothing I love more than transforming my home into a spooky, enchanting wonderland. For the past few years, I’ve been embracing my inner Ghost Host. I love crafting an incredibly memorable Haunted Mansion-themed dining room.

A Spooky Sanctuary

My dining room is the centerpiece of my Haunted Mansion-themed decor. Draped in cobwebs, haunted by bats and ghosts, and scattered with fake tombstones, the room is a chilling spectacle. The centerpiece of the table is a crystal ball featuring Madam Leota. Her eerie blue glow and haunting chants add to the atmosphere of the room.
To add a touch of whimsy, I’ve incorporated various Haunted Mansion-inspired elements. A vintage mini grandfather clock, adorned with cobwebs, ticks ominously in the corner. The ghostly Hat Box Ghost presides over the room, his subtle presence adding to the eerie ambiance.

Haunted Mansion Characters

No Haunted Mansion theme would be complete without its iconic characters. I’ve collected a variety of Haunted Mansion figurines, including Madame Leota, the Ghost Host, and the Hitchhiking Ghosts. The stretching room painting adorns the walls, adding to the overall spooky atmosphere.

A Thrifty Haunted Mansion

One of the best parts of decorating my Haunted Mansion-themed dining room is the treasure hunt. Finding the perfect pieces. I’ve collected many decorations from online retailers. I also love to scour thrift shops and yard sales for unique and affordable finds.

The Disney Store or a visit to Walt Disney World is a great way to pick up some authentic Disney Haunted Mansion merchandise. Retailers like Spirit Halloween now carry Haunted Mansion themed items. I was able to get Silas Crump, the grounds caretaker animatronic, from Lowe’s in 2023.

One of my favorite ways to acquire this theme decor is to visit thrift shops and yard sales. Some Items I have found are old vintage clocks, silver trays, books, lamps, dishes, glasses, picture frames, and old chairs. They bring authentic ambiance to the room. I even incorporated my grandmothers childhood doll with my son thinks is now creepy.

Creating a Haunted Mansion-themed dining room has been a labor of love. It’s a fantastic way to get into the spirit of Halloween and share my love of Disney with friends and family. If you’re looking for a unique and spooky way to decorate your home this Halloween, I highly recommend channeling your inner Ghost Host and creating your own Haunted Mansion-themed haven.
