Once Upon my Castle

Airfryer Roasted Chickpeas..best snack ever!

So I was shopping in Auldi’s a few months back and stumbled upon a bag of Roasted Chickpeas with sea salt. I love adding chickpeas to my salads. I get so excited when I see them at a restaurant salad bar!

Chickpeas are low in fat, full of fiber, protein, a multitude of vitamins and minerals and are even gluten-free. I thought this might be a good healthy snack lets give it a try.  Well, that bag got devoured in less than 2 days! The sad thing was it was a specialty product Auldi’s doesn’t carry all the time. When I went back for more they were gone! I searched our local grocery stores and no one carried them.

Then, I came across a recipe online for roasted chick peas in the oven, after a little more searching I found an air fryer recipe! It stated how easy it was to make so I gave it a try. Since then I have come up with my own version of cooking them in the air fryer.

So if you are looking for a healthy snack give these a try. I guarantee you can’t eat just one! I actually make at least 2-4 cans of these at a time. It’s simple and fast. I do recommend once your rinse your chickpeas to spread them out on a cookie sheet and allow to air dry for a bit. I find doing this they stay even crunchier.

You can follow my basic cooking instructions but be creative and use your own seasoning variations. If you like spice make the spicy and try different things like  rosemary, or oregano or ranch seasoning. One thing to note is to add your herbs like rosemary, thyme, basil and oregano in the last 5 minutes of cooking so they don’t burn. Trust me it’s not a pleasant taste if your herbs are burnt.

  3. Add to bowl Chickpeas, olive oil, salt and garlic powder and toss.

  4. Dump into air fryer and cook at 400 degrees for 20 minutes tossing every so often.

  5. Cool  on cookie sheet and store in airtight container

Recipe Notes

If you would like to add additional herbs such as rosemary, thyme, oregano, basil cook Chickpeas for only 15 minutes, toss in herbs and cook additional 5 minutes. You don't want to add them in the beginning or they will burn and trust me it doesn't taste good.
