Our Disney Fairytale Wedding Adventure
I know you all want to see pictures and even video and I have it all here! Lets start of with quick flash back to 2005, a visit to Disney World with family, not married or even engaged at that point. So jokingly with family as we pass the Disney’s Wedding Pavilion on Bay Lake I said “That is where I am getting married”. Never in a million years did I think that was even gong to be an option. After all, I came from a beautiful seaside beach resort, Cape May, NJ, and always imagined my wedding being there.
One of my favorite quotes from Walt Disney..”if you can dream it, you can do it”. Well I did. In 2007 Phil and I got married. Where? The Disney’s World Resort! Not to go into long details but Cape May was out and Florida was in. We were assigned a wedding planner but I did have hands in planning of course. It’s hard for me to let someone take control of party planning. I am a party planner! At the time we were allowed to use our own florist so friends of ours shipped flowers down and made our arrangements, I made the favors and special guest room bags to our programs and wedding invitations!
We had 100 guest travel to attend. I acted as the travel agent for most. Wow was it a job but fun. I did everything from sending out newsletters leading up to the wedding and save the dates. At the time there was not much online help to plan destination weddings so many of us planning Disney weddings met in forums online to plan together and share ideas, to this day we keep in touch through the help of social media.
Our wedding took place at Disney Wedding Pavilion and the service was performed by my Father in Law who is a minister. Our reception took place at The Atlantic Dance Hall on the Disney Boardwalk. The cake was amazing as well as the food. We did a buffet style which really allowed our guest to mingle and get up and dance. Boy did they dance, all night long!
We had special guests come join us on the dance floor, Mickey and Minnie, crash our reception and dance with everyone! It was a great surprise to our guests!
Then our guest were whisked away by Disney buses to backstage Epcot to attended the private dessert party. It was a great way to end the night our guest with the viewing of Illuminations and eating amazing desserts on the Isola in Italy. It was an amazing day!
Our photographer was Randy Chapman who is still taking pictures of our family today. Check out my post about Family Photos in Disney.
