Chillin in the Sun with Olaf -3rd Birthday Party

The past few months have been just a blur. There has been so much going on since March. I can’t believe I even was able to pull off my son’s 3rd Birthday party like I wanted.  We made a big move from the east coast to Columbus, OH. I was devastated but but a great move for us. So with lots of packing, selling our old house and finding a new house I wasn’t sure I would have time to plan a party. We didn’t even know where we would be at the time of the party in May.  In the end it all worked out, it always does right?

I had the Olaf in Summertime idea since the winter. My son loves Olaf and Frozen like every other kid in America. OK, admit it that you know all the words Let it Go. With the shortage of anything frozen or boy related Frozen items I knew I would be making some of my own party decorations. We were lucky to score a talking stuffed Olaf and a hula Olaf for the cake  but it was slim pickings as most of you probably know.

The party was held at my in laws yard down at the shore in Cape May. The safest place since we didn’t know where we would be living and most of my friends and family live there. It was the perfect day for chilling in Sun with Olaf!

First let me start out saying most of the decorations were all purchased at the Dollar Tree or were made by me. I printed a poster from Vista print to hang up along with some Olaf Balloons and beach themed  cut outs.

My favorite part of birthdays is the party favors. Buckets seemed appropriate so I made stickers for them, filled them with an Olaf book and stickers, Ice cream cone bubbles, mini beach ball, swirly lollipop, Funky sunglasses and Reindeer huff clappers. They also got fudge dipped in chocolate and formed into Olaf.

The food consisted of classic summer barbecue items, hamburgers, hot dogs, salads..etc.  The Dessert table is where I had fun. I made the cake which I thought turned out cute with Olaf on top. We had Blue Jello blocks( Kristoff’s Ice), Snowman parts, Anna and Elsa’s Ice crystal pops, Sven’s Treats ( carrot candy I found on clearance after Easter) and the hit treat Frozen Hot Chocolate. Last but not least a “Build your own Snowman” Snow cone buffet table.

I set up stations around the yard. I am a big fan of setting up different activity stations to keep the kids busy. This was a 3 year old party after all and following directions for games can be difficult.

The first station was Pin the nose on Olaf and the beach ball toss.  I purchased the graphics on Etsy and made posters at staples with a 50% off coupon.

The next station was “Pictures with Olaf” Photo Booth.  I had this idea in my head and it turned out just the way I thought. I set up a beach scene with some props.  Yes, I made Olaf for only $4! 2 pieces of foam board, lei and grass skirt ,  small shepard’s hook we had in my mom’s yard and a glue gun. I love how it came out and the kids had fun taking pictures.

The third station was ” Do you want to Build a Snowman” Game. I found this free online and printed it on photo paper I had and spread it out on an Olaf Towel Evan had received.

Up next “Frozen” Karaoke! I found these voice projection microphones in the party section at Target for $1. Hooked up the Ipod. I heard some adults having fun even though they didn’t want to admit to it.

Finally we had a giant Beach Ball Water sprinkler that the kids loved running through in their swim suites.

I think I pulled it off to be a Frozen Boy themed party and everyone had a great time.  I couldn’t have done it with out the help of my family. I hope you enjoyed it all.

So here is my question: Would you ever pay someone to pull off a themed party for your kids and what would you pay?
