These are served all over Georgia and its making its way across the country. I saw this on the Food Network and new I had to give this at try! Yummy cheese topped with an egg and butter, sounds weird but its amazing!
Mix the dry ingredients for the dough in a mixer.
Combine the water and milk and heat in microwave for 45 seconds.
Slowly add in the water/milk to the dry ingredients in a mixer using a dough hook. Once its smooth and stretch add in the olive oil and mix for an additional minute or so.
Grease a bowl with olive oil and place dough inside and cover with plastic wrap in a warm dry place for about 1 hr.
If not using right away after dough rests place in fridge over night.
Mix the cheese together in a separate bowl
Once dough is ready. Cut into 4 quarters.
Flour your counter surface and roll out dough into 9"-12" round circle. Like a pizza.
Cut parchment paper to size of our air fryer or baking sheet. Place dough and roll up sides on both sides until a boat shape is formed.
Fill the boat with the cheese mixture and brush dough with eggwash
Place in air fryer at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and dough is golden brown.
Immediately remove from air fryer or oven and make a well in the center of the cheese. Crack a room temperature egg on top. Place back in air fryer for 3 minutes. The egg will cook in the hot cheese and should be whitish but still runny. Serve and add a pat of butter mix in with cheese and dig in!
If cooking in over bake at 450 degrees for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Add egg and cook for about 5 minutes.
