Cool off with a glass of refreshing sweet tea! I am not a southerner and have never made sweet tea before. Although this is not the traditional way of making sweet tea I will never be making it any other way. It’s so easy and saves money at the grocery store. You can sweeten it to your liking. I prefer sweet but not too sweet.
SOUTHERN SWEET TEA – Instant Pot
Ingredients
- 4 TEABAGS
- 1 TSP BAKING SODA
- 1/2 to 1 CUP OF SUGAR ( to your liking, I stick with 1/2 and add more if needed)
- 8 CUPS OF WATER
Instructions
- Add the water to the Instant Pot, throw in the sugar ( or sugar substitute) to your sweeten to your liking( I use ½ cup), baking soda and tea bags.
- Set Instant pot on Manual for 4 minutes, natural release 14 minutes.
- I have even made a second batch reusing the same tea bags.

Yes, the baking soda takes away some of the bitterness of the tea.
